“So many of our few remaining parcels of open space are very much at risk for development, and we want to do all that we can to save as much as we can.”

— Hamilton Mayor
Glen Gilmore, during his weekly address on radio station WBUD

Welcome to the Klockner Woodlands...

You've reached the online home of Klockner Woodlands, a neighborhood organization dedicated to the preservation of a 90-acre tract of wooded wetlands located on Klockner Road in Hamilton Township, Mercer County, New Jersey. Our goal is to stop residential or commercial development in the Woodlands, and to preserve the entire acreage as a natural habitat park, as described in the current Hamilton Township Open Space and Recreation plan. To view a map of the area, click here.

Next Meeting Monday, June 16...

In lieu of a formal meeting, we will meet again on Monday, June 16 at 8pm at the Hamilton Township Council Meeting, to be held at the Hamilton Municipal Building, 2090 Greenwood Avenue. Council meetings are held on the 2nd floor.

NOTE: The Hamilton Council will be voting on a resolution in support of purchase of the woods at their next meeting. Please attend and speak in support of the resolution. This is another opportunity to keep the issue prominent. This will replace our usual meeting.

We NEED your attendance at this meeting, to demonstrate our strong committment to saving the Woodlands to our elected officials!

We believe that this area should be preserved because it is one of the last remaining wooded areas in Hamilton, where 82% of the land is already developed. These woodlands have great inherent value. They support wildlife, add to the natural diversity of the community, interrupt the monotony of urban sprawl, and, as a wetland and floodplain, protect surrounding developed areas.

Development of this area will have serious, long-term, and irreversible negative effects including: increased traffic and pollution, generally, and particularly on Klockner Road and Nebraska Avenue; resultant increased hazard to school children who walk or board their buses on Klockner Road; negative impact on the marketability of housing adjacent to the development; drainage problems in surrounding neighborhoods; and increased infrastructure costs for police, fire, emergency medical services, etc., which will very likely result in increased property taxes. To download a printable petition in support of our plan, please click here.

The meeting will be held in the school library. Please enter from the right side of the school as you face the school from Klockner Road.
